Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations' Standards for Excellence
Since 1999 the Fuel Fund of Maryland has been a certified member in the Maryland Nonprofits' Standards for Excellence program. The program is based on honesty, integrity, fairness, respect, trust, responsibility, and accountability in nonprofit program operations, governance, human resources, financial management, and fundraising. The standards go beyond the minimum legal requirements by outlining how well-managed and responsibly-governed nonprofits should operate.
The standards cover eight areas of nonprofit operations:
- Mission and Program
- Governing Board
- Conflict of Interest
- Human Resources
- Financial and Legal Accountability
- Openness and Disclosure
- Fundraising
- Public Policy and Public Affairs
Any organization displaying the Seal of Excellence has information available to the public, provides truthful responsible stewardship of all donations, and provides a voice for their constituents. The Fuel Fund of Maryland is proud of its inclusion in this program and ability to display the Seal of Excellence.
